Michigan's Flagship A.A.S. to B.A.S. Pathway
Grand Valley State University's new Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) is a unique bachelor's degree completion program that gives applied associates degree holders the opportunity to step up their education and careers. Grand Valley's B.A.S. is available in four in-demand areas:
- Leadership and Business Fundamentals (Fully Online)
- Professional Innovation (Fully Online)
- Technology Project Management (Fully Online)
- Web Design and Development (Fully Online or Face-to- Face)
Each bachelor's gives you credit for your previous education and work experience. Plus, your degree will include stackable certificates in the area of your choice. This unique package will expand your skills, enhance your resume, and empower you to take the next step toward your career goals.
Grand Valley will give you up to 80 credits for your applied associates and previous work experience. The final 40 credits must be at GVSU. The Web Design and Development degree will give up to 64 credits to transfer. Schedule an appointment with our advisors for details.
Grand Valley's B.A.S. degrees are offered fully online with the option to take them face-to-face if preferred.
According to a recent Lightcast study, there were 283,000 more Michigan job opportunities available to bachelor’s degree holders than associates degree holders in 2022. The median advertised wage for these jobs was also $19,000 more annually than positions requiring associates degrees.
B.A.S. Requirements
To be admitted, students need to meet Grand Valley State University’s minimum requirements for transfer student admissions and have completed or be in the last semester of an associate of applied science degree, associate of general studies, an associate of applied arts and science degree, an associate in business degree, or similar technical applied degrees. LEADERSHIP AND BUSINESS FUNDAMENTALS, B.A.S.
The leadership and business fundamentals major leads to a B.A.S. degree and includes stackable credentials: the leadership certificate and business fundamentals certificate. The major is a collaboration between Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Seidman College of Business, giving students a broad, cross-curricular education.

PROFESSIONAL INNOVATION
The professional innovation major allows you to pursue a flexible array of customizable emphases as part of a B.A.S. degree. It is designed for those who have completed an A.A.S. degree or the equivalent. This degree recognizes the value of technical skills earned at the associate level while guiding you to build interdisciplinary knowledge and strengthen core academic skills.

WEB DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT, B.A.S.
The program is for those who want to gain the technical and artistic skills to design and build web sites. It builds on the technical skills developed at the associate level, adding the necessary artistic knowledge for the web development field, as well as the specialized computing knowledge necessary for front-end web development, including markup languages, programming for the web, and web standards.

TECHNOLOGY PROJECT MANAGEMENT, B.A.S.
The Technology Project Management major builds upon the technical skills earned in your associate’s degree with the academic knowledge and skills to enable you to take the next step in your chosen career. You will develop skills in the areas of programming, drafting, CAD, ethics and decision making, safety, and management. You can tailor your program through electives that will allow for depth in areas such as programming, data visualization, occupational safety and health, renewable energy, and sustainability. The skills will be applied in a professional work environment through an internship.

Costs and Financial Aid
