Visiting
- Frey Foundation Learning Commons is on the second floor of the DeVos Center for Interdisciplinary Health on the Health Campus in downtown Grand Rapids.
- Study spaces are available whenever the library is open.
Parking
- Student parking is available on Levels B2, B1, G of the parking ramp, accessible off Lafayette behind the Center for Health Sciences (CHS).
- Guest parking is available at Pay-to-Park spaces in the parking ramp behind CHS and at Raleigh Finkelstein Hall.

At Frey Foundation Learning Commons
Reading Room
The Frey Foundation Reading Room has a variety of seating options for both group and solo work, great views, and a colorful fireplace.
Learn Labs
Two flexible spaces for active learning and student collaboration. DCIH 220 is a traditional classroom, and DCIH 205B lab has a cart of laptops and display screens for classroom use.
Study Rooms
The Frey Foundation Learning Commons has two first-come, fist-served study rooms for group work.
Amenities
Restrooms
- Single-gender restrooms are available on the 2nd floor of DCIH in rooms 273 (Men) and 274 (Women).
- Accessible, Gender-inclusive restrooms are available in DCIH rooms 002 and 126. Additional Accessible, Gender Inclusive restrooms are available in the Center for Health Sciences, connected to DCIH, in rooms CHS 239C and 331A.
- Both single-gender restrooms 273 and 274 have baby-changing tables.
Wellness Rooms
- A room for nursing mothers is available in DCIH 125.
- An Interfaith Reflection Room is available in the Center for Health Sciences, room 166.
Technology
- Laptops are available to borrow at the service desk.
- Additional computer labs are available in CHS 191, DCIH 120, 320, 505 and 507. DCIH 505 has a mix of Macintosh and PC computers.
- Printer is available at DCIH 206, right outside the entrance to Frey.

Graphic Medicine
Graphic Medicine is "the intersection between the medium of comics and the discourse of healthcare" (Dr. Ian Williams) Graphic Medicine helps patients understand conditions and treatments, destigmatizes conditions using personal experiences, gives caregivers ideas for communicating with patients, and creates emotional and impactful connections.
E-books and journals
Healthcare information changes quickly, sometimes faster than physical books can be printed. The University Libraries provides online access to thousands of e-books and health-science journals, available anytime.
